Successful Launch of Calypso Portable Object Certification

In the light of increased interoperability needs of transport operators and authorities, Calypso Networks Association has successfully started the process of portable object certification. The appearance of portable objects like mobile phones, third party emitted card media have risen the stake of mutual trust and confidence. Partners are now much more concerned about compatibility aspects than ever before. With Triangle 2 application, dedicated to interoperability within Calypso schemes, being now available on portable objects, a leverage for the certification process exists.

CNA’s certification scheme relies on a technical evaluation by the independent laboratory ELITT (www.elitt.com) which guarantees the conformity of the submitted portable objects with the revision 3.1 of the Calypso specification.

Today two suppliers have provided to the laboratory their products and received from CNA the conformity certificate: www.calypsostandard.net/index.php/po-certification/certified-products

More conformity evaluations are currently in progress and many more are to come. Full information on the process is available through our technical website www.calypsostandard.net/index.php/po-certification/po-certification-process

With this certification process transport operators and authorities have now a solid and reliable tool allowing them to secure their smart ticketing scheme towards all kinds of portable objects potentially being able to circulate in their networks. For more than a decade CNA has successfully served its members and community interest and is happy to have realised this mile stone in the frame of certification.
